Legal Advocacy FundThe AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund provides funding and a support system for individuals seeking judicial redress for sex discrimination. The AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund, a program of the AAUW Educational Foundation is the nation's largest legal fund focused solely on sex discrimination in higher education. Since 1981 the AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund has helped students, faculty, staff, and administrators in higher education challenge discriminatory practices such as sexual harassment, denial of tenure or promotion, pay inequity, and inequality in women's athletics programs. One of the most recent cases is Jennings v. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Melissa Jennings, a former member of the women’s soccer team and a former student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from August 1996 until May 1998 sued the University alleging that the head coach of the soccer team, Anson Dorrance, sexually harassed her. She seeks to hold the University liable for his actions. For more information go to aauw.org/laf |
